I Think that this is fitted for alpine climbing, This seems to have cultivated favor from lots of climbers due to it's durability and versatility.

Sweet
Had these pants for a few years now, had 'em on ice, alpine, and rock. From sub zero temps of Alaska winters to summer alpine climbs, I'm pleased w/my Champs. They see lots of use, and show very little wear for the abuse they take...

Comfy and breathable
I've worn these on -20 degree days as well as +20 degrees and stayed warm on the cold days and cool on the warm days; they are sturdy - I've worn them mushing and xc skiing and bounced off trees with them.

Very versatile
I received these pants a little over a month ago. So far I've worn them climbing and trekking, and found them very comfortable for travel as well. They seem very durable. I found them sized a bit long though, fyi.
