Friggin Sweet!
Don't hesitate, if you have been looking for a GPS that can handle a wide variety of trips and tracking, buy the eTrex Legend Cx. The color screen is amazing quality in the sun or indoors/shaded areas and you can change brightness at the touch of a button! The user menus are easy to navigate and figure out, even without reading much of the manual. If you have never used GPS, you should read the manual and bookmark the Garmin website for future use. If you are a GPS user already, this unit is a nice upgrade from older models. The basemap is just Ok...highways and interstates only, but you can get City Navigator and boost the capabilities tremendously! The micro data card is removable and can store lots of waypoints and maps, so you can interchange them as you create trips on your PC. Most of the software I saw was NOT MAC compatible...so beware if you are a MAC user. When you purchase City Navigator, you must register your stuff online at Garmin.com. Its easy to do and takes very little time.

Perfect Combination
The Vista is the perfect combination of functionality, reliability, price and weight for any GPS on the market. For climbing, skiing, biking... any outdoor wilderness travel activity... the Vista and other e-Trex models are incredible devices. The base maps that are included (standard) on the vista and other models (Legend, etc) are nice for reference when in use. Only as heavy as a cell phone, you won't be sacrificing weight. In my experience, the battery life is approximately 8 or so hours when tracking satellites. I've used this device everyday for months in school, and I've never had a problem.
