A good day trip

My girlfriend and I made a day trip to Sunrise on a recent Sunday. The resort is a 4 hour drive from the Phoenix area. We got on the slopes around 10:00 AM. More than 50% of the trails were open. We pretty much stuck to the main express lift and groomed intermediate trails. Conditions were good on most trails, a little skied off (hard packed and slippery) in places. We waited no more than 3 minutes in any lift line. We had a decent lunch in the base lodge and some nice conversations as we rode to the top. Overall, our impression is of a decent mountain, not especially challenging, but a good warm-up to start the season and enjoy the sunshine. And after the 4 hour drive back home, we were satisfied with the day.
