Germany can often be overlooked when thinking of a ski vacation in the Alps. Although France, Switzerland and Austria do offer slightly higher altitude, Germany still has some superb skiing which is often reflected in their medal count at the Winter Olympics.

Cross country skiing too is big in Germany and the Black Forest in particular offers some great trails.
