Waterville Valley

Waterville Valley

Founded by US Olympic skier Tom Corcoran and located in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest, Waterville Valley is found at the end of an 11 mile stretch of scenic road. The 4,004 foot high mountain soars above you, 2,020 feet of it lift-served. With runs up to three miles long and over 50 trails -- almost all covered by snow making -- this is a big ski area. Cross country skiing facilities are particularly good and Waterville is rated in the top 5 US cross country skiing destinations. The resort boasts more than 70km of groomed trails plus backcountry terrain.Expert downhillers head for the Sunnyside area with its double-black diamond runs. The most challenging trail is generally considered to be True Grit. Beginners have easier terrain closer to the base area and two-thirds of the slope are wide cruisers, ideal for relaxed intermediate skiing.Waterville boasts a charming ski-in, full-service base village with excellent off-slope facilities. Acommodation ranges from cosy mountain inns to spacious condos and amenities include sleigh rides, massage, ice skating and speciality stores.
