Mt. Baldy

Mt. Baldy

Created in 1944 by a couple of guys who wanted to make a little money off their skiing hobby, Mt. Baldy has evolved into one of the steepest and largest mountains.

Herb Leffler first came to Mt. Baldy in 1944 to have a ski area for himself and his buddy, Jim Chaffee, and to make a little money off his skiing hobby. Their rope tow eventually led to the Mt. Baldy Ski Lifts, which began in 1952.

Located just 45 miles outside of L.A. Mt. Baldy gives skiers and snowboarders 2000 feet of vertical lift on 3 mountains.
