With its capital located in Juneau, Alaska is one big state, with a land area of 571,951 square miles. Alaska's highest point is Mt. McKinley at a staggering 20, 320 feet and it's lowest point being the Pacific Ocean at sea level. Their state motto is "north to the future". Sometimes called the Last Frontier, Alaska includes two major island groups, the Aleutian Islands and the Alexander Archipelago. The name of the state is derived from an Aleut word meaning "mainland."
